Goodbye 2020

I'm starting a blog on New Year's Eve...does that make me a cliché? I would think that many people add blogs to their list of resolutions, especially at the end of this dumpster fire of a year. I think we can all agree that we are read to say goodbye to 2020 and hope that 2021 brings back some sense of "normal". In Canada we have been put into province-wide lockdowns twice. I'm an "essential worker" which means I wasn't stuck in my house all day for months but all my free time was no longer being spent with family or friends. Instead, it was just my husband and I. During this free time we watched a lot of tv (all 18 seasons of Hell's Kitchen for example) and I also spent an unusual amount of time in my bathtub. During which I always put on some instrumental music, turned on my scentsy warmer, turned off the lights and grabbed my kobo. Maybe it was extra free time or maybe it was my bath time but somewhere within this terrible year, I fell back in love with reading.

I have always loved to read from The Very Hungry Caterpillar onto Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone onto most recently a re-read of Nineteen Minutes with many books in-between. I can picture me at every stage of life with a book in my hand. I have an entire room in my house called the library with shelves overflowing with books, many that I still haven't had the chance to read.

I have big plans for 2021 but I didn't want to lose that spark that 2020 reignited within me. And so this blog was born. A place to talk about books and how they made me feel. A place to return to and remember why I love to read as much as I do. A place to remember that with every page I turn, a new adventure awaits.
