“Leave this world a better place than how you found it.”

This is such an amazing series and I'm so glad I reread it from the beginning. For all the authors out there, this is how you end a trilogy!! With that being said...I'm so happy that she decided to continue to bring us stories from Prythian because I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters.
From here on out there will be spoilers- you've been warned...
A Court of Wings and Ruin marks the end of the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy. As Hybern gathers their forces, our characters prepare for war. The Night Court tries to rally support from the Illyrians, the High Lords of other realms, humans, and the Court of Nightmares. This is a very war-heavy novel. There was still humor, spice and everything else we loved about the previous two but there is lots of action as well. Normally, I don't typically like to read war novels but I didn't mind this one. I would have thought the battles would have started to become repetitive and boring but using different points of view she was able to keep them all interesting! And the risk was always high! It was never a given that everyone was going to make it out alive.
The story starts off with Feyre back at the Spring Court. As much as I hated to see her back with Tamlin it was amazing to see how much Feyre has changed since crossing the wall that first time. Talk about character development! She appeared innocent, grateful and willing to play house with Tamlin as she once was but in reality she is now a bad-ass High Lady and the Spring Court doesn't know what is about to hit them! She convinces everyone that she has been under Rhys's spell when of course she was not. Every move she made was calculated and thought out. She destroyed the court from the inside, she got revenge, she received valuable information and then she went home.
Once again, I really enjoyed the introduction of new characters! We got to meet all the High Lords of Prythian who are all so unique. I would love to read more about them in the future and I hope that this isn't the last we see of them. I really do think it's the characters that make Sarah's books so enjoyable to read. Her side characters are just as interesting (if not more TBH) than her main characters. I loved Nesta in this novel. While Feyre has completely assimilated into her new life as High Fae, and Elain is clinging desperately to her human life, Nesta is stuck somewhere in between. She has new, unidentified powers that add an interesting element to the story, but she is a strong character in a totally different way from the other strong female characters. Plus her thing with Cassian (the banter and sexual tension) is so entertaining to read. Every single character, love them or hate them, you want to find out more about them. Which brings me to my next point...
I would like to point out once again that this is a reread. Meaning I already knew exactly what was going to happen. I knew the Suriel would die. I knew Feyre's dad was going to swoop in at the end on the ships named after his daughters. I knew he was going to die. I knew Amren was going to sacrifice herself and I knew Rhys would die and come back, saving Amren in the process. Well, knowing all that did not stop it from hurting any less. I was still sobbing. I'm talking about snotty, ugly, can't breathe, kind of cry. My husband always laughs at me when I cry when I watch movies or read books but I can't help it! Every single one of these moments hurt. Every single moment brought tears to my eyes and hurt my heart. I was sad for those who died. Sad for those left behind. And sad for myself at the loss of a character that I came to love. That is a sign of an amazing author.
A Court of Mist and Fury is still my favourite of the three but this is a close second. There were a few moments that felt rushed and some that dragged on but in the end, it felt like the plot was tied up nicely, and everything fell into the right place… If this had been the last novel I would have been ok with the way it ended.
Luckily for me, there is a novella to reread, a new book to start and more on the way!
